Yesterday Bryan’s picc line was removed from his arm. I wish we were there for the occasion, but these pictures, snapped by Shared Wellness staff, are worth a thousand words!

Bryan has had some sort of intravenous needle in his arm for over one month. Forty-two days to be exact. His joy at being released from this uncomfortable tether is evident in the picture at the bottom of this blog.

After appointments at the PCP doctor, infectious disease doctor and pulmonologist, he is coming out the other side of this scary pneumonia nightmare. All have declared he is on the mend, trending in a positive direction. Yes, there is still evidence of the pneumonia in his lung. That’s why a follow-up cat scan will take place next week and another one in three months to make totally sure all the infection is gone.

His stamina is not 100% yet. That is to be expected. He allows himself time to just chill and lay down when he gets tired. But I have noticed a whole different personality beginning to emerge post-hospitalization. Is it the release from the hospital or something deeper? He is still living in his little brick Cape Cod in Hatboro. His roommate, Sean, and he are getting along well. The many staff which populate this little home have been making life easy and fulfilling for Bryan.

I’m sure he misses his old apartment and roommate. The plan is to find him a new living situation – both in a roommate and new apartment. His old place has six flights of wooden stairs, as he lives on the top floor. Not ideal for someone still recovering as he is. Also, it is a scary fire hazard. No elevators. Just wooden stairs. As someone still recovering from fire PTSD it’s not a good combo.

I ask you to stay tuned for more life changes for Bryan. I pray that they will be trending in a positive direction. After what he’s been through, I think it’s time for some good things to happen!
