Sporting his new goatee, Bryan wants to look like his Uncle Brad.
March 21st. World Down Syndrome Day. Time to wear your crazy mismatched socks!
Why? To raise awareness, to show support for those individuals with Down Syndrome, to start conversations. To help people like Bryan find a voice. The theme is
“Improve Our Support Systems”. These support systems are in grave danger of being compromised in this country due to recent proposed governmental cuts. Bryan and his friends are on the chopping block. From the very youngest children to mature adults like Bryan, they WILL be affected adversely if we do not advocate for their rights. Most of these individuals are not able to have a voice or know the means by which to make their needs and wants known. We are their best chance of being heard.
March 21st has been designated as this special day worldwide because the vast majority of those with Down Syndrome have the Trisomy 21 (three copies of the 21st chromosome) variety of this genetic disorder. Hence, the 3/21 date. And, when looked at under a microscope, those chromosomes look strangely like socks!
So, I’m hoping that on this day you will consider wearing crazy mismatched socks and to use this as a conversation starter, remembering Bryan and all of those other 6 million individuals worldwide who need your help!
Thank you for the heads up ⬆️ I will gladly honor this traditi
